Wilson Communicates Eco-Blog

Thinking Green ~ Eco-Blog ~ Highlighting green resources and social media resources for individuals and businesses.

I’m writing an article about generational communications as it applies to the evolution of business communication and would love to hear your thoughts.

I'm not interested in a positive vs. negative dichotomy.  I'm specifically interested in the communications, public relations and marketing arenas.  I'm looking for observations from fellow communications professionals as to how you believe age affects or does not affect the way you communicate with your colleagues.

I'd also love hear your thoughts on the relationship between age and (whatever your definition is of) professional behavior.

I've learned that I'll have a more productive experience with the incoming generation of media professionals when I communicate via SMS or Twitter.  Specific example: when I'm looking for media coverage for a client and the media contact is under 35, I'm going to text or direct message the information and follow up with an email (or flip that).

Click on Contact Us  and share your multi-generational communications and public relations experiences.  Be sure to include whether you'd like to be quoted or prefer to remain anonymous.

So, I'm sitting in Environmental Services, Inc's Jupiter, FL office as I work on the upcoming  Jacksonville Beach December 5 Right Whale Festival, Tree Hill Nature Center's October 24 Songwriter's Festival and a family/friends trip to the Outer Banks.

I'm brushing up on new SEO info and learning more about Photoshop.

Whoppers and the Great Outdoors

Posted by:

I loved reading about a Burger King in New York that is harnessing kinetic energy from the cars in their drive though lane.  That's good summertime innovation.

To better enjoy hot fun in the summertime, don't forget the  natural sunscreens as you grab the kids and drag them outdoors for some fresh air fun.

In Jacksonville. Florida, Tree Hill Nature Center (a client) is a fabulous place to visit with the family and friends.  It's five minutes from downtown with three  eco-systems, a petting zoo and miles of trails in the great outdoors.

I'm heading out now for some fresh air.

 Happy 4th of July!

As I type, if you're in America, you're preparing for the great grilled feast celebrating our independence.  Whether you're celebrating in your backyard or in someone else's, today's all about burgers, dogs and red, white and boom.

Wherever you are, if you're in the U.S.A., you'll end your day with a burst of beautiful fireworks covering your sky.

So, I'm heading out now to pick my husband up at the airport and join in the patriotic, fresh air  celebration.

I thought I'd share some quick resources to green your day before I leave.

Tree Hugger has some great ideas to green your grill: Time To Green Your Grill

Instead of buying that pretty red electric lawn mower or even one of those cool "big guns" powered retro models, think about about a zero-scape yard.  Even if it's just a five or ten-scape,  your yard design can save tremendous amounts of precious resources.

It's no big surprise that fireworks contain environmental pollutants that contaminate our air and water.  Would you pay a little more to support your bottle rockets, roman candles and black cat explosions going green?  Contact the folks who manufacture all of those glittering pyrotechnics.   They don't know what they don't know and if you'll support eco-friendly fireworks with your greenbacks, they need to know that.

TIME magazine has an excellent page with green resources, check it out when you return from today's festivities.  Lot's of resources here.

That's it for now.  I'm picking up my very cool husband who played the 1812 Overture with the East Texas Symphony in Tyler, Texas yesterday.   Musical fireworks in Texas ~ love it!

Stay safe, be independent and breathe in all that sparkling clean air.

Business Cards

Posted by:

These days, when asked for my business card, I smile and reply, " My card is on my website." I suspect that the person who is expectantly holding their hand out may question whether a card actually exists. (It does, pinky promise swear, click on Green Resources. : ) What if you began collecting business cards and in following up with an email, you participate in saving that one little piece of 2"x 3" paper that ends up in someone's trash anyway? I wonder how much paper would be saved if business cards didn't exist?
